About Aesthetiker

Aesthetiker is an Australian online store specialising in authentic 20th-century vintage lighting and design sourced from Europe. Behind Aesthetiker are design duo Toni and Alex, with over three decades of combined experience working in design studios across Australia and Europe.

With bachelor’s degrees in product design, they share a deep appreciation and understanding of design, aesthetics and culture. They enjoy geeking out over objects that defined design eras, were avant-garde for their time and emerged during periods of rapid technological change.

It was this little obsession that naturally led them to start Aesthetiker. What began as a hobby soon took on professional proportions, built on years of buying and selling pieces for their own interiors while living in Cologne, Wiesbaden, Munich and Paris. During their twelve years living in Europe, they immersed themselves in design shows, publications and designers, remaining closely connected to European design culture.

Each piece in the Aesthetiker collection is individually sourced from across Europe and selected for its design, form, materials and craftsmanship, with careful consideration given to its origin, maker and design history. While Toni and Alex have a deep appreciation for recognised design classics, they are equally drawn to lesser-known pieces that simply stand out. Above all, they look for pieces with an enduring quality that feels as relevant today as when they were first created. The collection reflects their own eye for design rather than any one particular period, designer or style.
